Health conditions & adjustments
If you have a health condition or take medication that affects movement, tell Helen when you book so it can be built into your plan and recommendations can be made safely. Adjustments are offered according to your preferences, such as pacing, breaks, sensory considerations, written information and communication preferences. Ask Helen if you are unsure.
Important considerations
BIOMEphysio is not a diagnostic or treatment service. Conditions need medical assessment first, or a GP referral. It does not diagnose ADHD or neurodivergence. If you are seeking medical support, Helen can provide suitable clinical recommendations for referral.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Who is BIOMEphysio for?
ADHDers, neurodivergent people and anyone who wants to understand their movement needs better. Neurodivergent people are a particular focus because standard exercise guidance often does not reflect how they experience movement.
Do I need a diagnosis?
No. If you have questions about your situation, contact Helen before starting.
What is the BIOMEphysio approach?
It draws on exercise and movement therapies, physical and somatic methods, physiotherapy and mind-body medicine. Physical therapies address movement, function, symptom relief and recovery. Somatic therapies address sensation, body awareness, tension and stress responses. Methods are chosen for each person.
Is the evidence strong?
The service is evidence-informed, but evidence on movement for wellbeing, and on ADHD, neurodiversity and physical health, is limited. BIOMEphysio uses the best available research alongside Helen's clinical experience.
Do you diagnose or treat conditions?
No. BIOMEphysio does not diagnose physical conditions, ADHD or neurodivergent presentations, and does not treat or manage symptoms or conditions. It supports health and wellbeing and does not replace medical assessment. Conditions need medical assessment first, or a GP referral.
What do I need for an online appointment?
A device that can run Google Meet, a stable internet connection and, if you wish to try guided movement, some floor space.
Where is the in-person studio?
The BIOMEmovement studio is in Newcastle upon Tyne, in a dedicated space that is part of Helen's home. It has wheelchair access, parking and public transport options. Contact Helen for directions or transport support.
Can you make adjustments?
Yes: pacing, breaks, sensory considerations, written information, communication preferences and more. Tell Helen what helps you.
What if I take medication or have a health condition?
You will complete a health questionnaire and consent form before your first appointment. Tell Helen when you book so your plan is safe and appropriate.
Will you use equipment?
Possibly, depending on you and your circumstances. Some people find particular equipment, or its absence, helps. Any equipment suggested is chosen with physiotherapy criteria in mind.
What is your cancellation policy?
Full refund with 24 hours' notice through the booking page. With less than 24 hours' notice, you can rearrange to a later date.
How is my information handled?
In line with data protection law and professional standards.
